On January 1, 2025, the Chief Minister of Mizoram, Lalduhoma, spearheaded an inspiring initiative aimed at combating drug abuse in the state. The “Walk for Drug-Free Mizoram” event, launched in Aizawl, serves as a platform to raise public awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society.
The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of community efforts and the role of every citizen in eliminating the drug menace that has been affecting the region. He called upon people of all age groups, particularly the youth, to participate actively in this campaign for the welfare of future generations. The walk, which involved a large number of participants, marks a significant step in Mizoram’s fight against drug trafficking and abuse, encouraging a spirit of collective responsibility.
Mizoram, being strategically located close to the international borders, has unfortunately faced challenges with narcotic trafficking. The “Walk for Drug-Free Mizoram” will continue throughout the year, with various events and programs planned to educate and engage the public on the negative impacts of drugs and substance abuse.
