In a significant move to enhance road safety, the Bengaluru traffic police have initiated a rigorous campaign against drunk driving. The recent operation resulted in 779 motorists being booked for this offense. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to curb traffic violations and promote responsible driving behaviours.
The enforcement drive, which involved the inspection of tens of thousands of vehicles, is set to become a regular feature, with intensified efforts planned from Thursday to Sunday each week. The Joint Commissioner of Police (traffic), M N Anucheth, has issued directives for strict enforcement measures, emphasizing the use of CCTV cameras at junctions to ensure that all actions are transparent and accountable.
The inclusion of women personnel in the registration process of these cases is a commendable step towards ensuring fairness and sensitivity in law enforcement practices. This comprehensive approach by the Bengaluru traffic police reflects a commitment to uphold the law and protect citizens, with the ultimate goal of reducing accidents and fatalities associated with drunk driving.
