The Punjab Home Department has enlisted the support of the Army and Rangers to ensure “peace and order” during Muharram, according to recent developments. Law enforcement agencies annually devise robust security strategies to safeguard Muharram processions, particularly on the 9th and 10th days, when mournful gatherings take place nationwide. Previous incidents of militant attacks during these events underscore the necessity for heightened security measures.

Concurrently, Rawalpindi has formulated its security plan, involving 7,500 police personnel and additional Army and Ranger units on standby. Traffic management plans are also in place to facilitate smooth vehicular movement in urban areas.
