Karnataka Police Busts Fake Currency Racket Inspired by ‘Farzi’ Web Series

In Karnataka’s Belagavi district, the police have apprehended six individuals involved in a counterfeit currency racket. Anwar Yadawad, Saddam Yadalli, Ravi Hyagadi, Dundappa Onashenavi, Vittal Hosathotal, and Mallappa Kundali were captured during a car seizure in Kadabagatti Gudda, Gokak town, where police found 305 fake Rs 100 notes and 6,792 fake Rs 500 notes.

The gang operated from a house in Arabhavi, Mudalagi taluk, mimicking methods seen in the web series ‘Farzi.’ Items seized included counterfeit notes, a printer, materials for printing, and six mobile phones, valued at approximately Rs 5,23,900. The gang allegedly exchanged Rs 5 lakh in fake currency for Rs 1 lakh genuine, spanning areas like Bagalkot, Mahalingapura, Gokak, and Mudalagi. A case has been filed at Gokak police station.
