In a tragic incident at Cortalim, Lionel Lobo, aged 32, was found murdered late on Tuesday night at an under-construction site. Within 24 hours, Verna police apprehended Alex Coutinho (34), a friend of the victim, for the crime. The altercation reportedly erupted over a bottle of alcohol, culminating in Lobo’s death from head injuries inflicted with a cement block.
During the investigation, Coutinho was present at the crime scene and attempted to mislead the authorities. CCTV footage proved crucial in identifying and arresting the suspect swiftly.
Barad, the site’s owner, received news of the murder around 7 pm and promptly alerted the police. Officials including Verna PI and South Goa SP were on-site to oversee the investigation. The incident has shocked the local community, highlighting the swift response and investigative capabilities of law enforcement in the area.
