The LB Nagar police in Hyderabad have issued a notice under Section 41 Cr.P.C to journalist Revathi Pogadadanda, requesting her appearance for questioning within three days regarding a case filed against her. Last month, Revathi tweeted about prolonged power cuts in the city, prompting an Assistant Engineer from the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) to file a complaint disputing her statement.
The police subsequently registered a case. The incident has sparked significant outrage, with several prominent figures, including BRS working president KT Rama Rao, condemning the government’s heavy-handed approach towards individuals raising their voices. Critics argue that such actions stifle freedom of expression and intimidate journalists and citizens. The case continues to draw attention as debates over government accountability and citizens’ rights intensify
