Director General of Police R R Swain stated that the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita provides a clear legal mandate to address cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking at the implementation of three new criminal laws, Swain emphasized that these laws offer a precise definition of terrorism, enhancing the police’s capability to combat threats from beyond international borders.
Swain highlighted the new laws’ role in tackling organized crime and strengthening internal security. He noted the increased responsibility on J&K Police, stressing the need for additional resources, including 321 law officers. The DGP underscored the importance of a stable environment for effective law enforcement and the necessity of quality training for police personnel, especially in forensics and handling digital evidence.
