Jammu and Kashmir Police recently observed Thana Diwas across the region, commemorating the enactment of three significant criminal laws: the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act, 2023 (BNS), Bhartiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita Act, 2023 (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Act, 2023 (BSA). The event, hosted at Police Headquarters in Srinagar, featured prominent figures such as Lt Governor Manoj Sinha as Chief Guest and High Court Judge N Kotiswar Singh as Guest of Honour.
Key dignitaries including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, LG Advisor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, and DGP RR Swain attended, alongside representatives from the judiciary, civil administration, universities, and the media.
Celebrations spanned 23 districts and three police districts of Jammu and Kashmir, leveraging video conferencing to engage participants across diverse sectors. The proceedings were nationally webcasted, highlighting the collaborative spirit and commitment of stakeholders in fostering law enforcement and community engagement initiatives.
