In Hyderabad, under the newly enacted
Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), significant legal actions have swiftly followed its implementation. At Charminar Police Station, the first FIR under these revamped laws was filed at 1:30 am. The case pertains to rash driving (Section 281), involving two individuals: Sohail Ansari, a 19-year-old Rapido driver, and SK Sanwar, a 26-year-old hotel server.
Their scooters, found without number plates during a routine check near Gulzar House, led to their arrest and vehicle seizure. Meanwhile, Rajendranagar Police Station registered another case under Section 104 (punishment for murder) after a tragic car accident on PVNR Expressway claimed the life of 25-year-old Ganesh.
These incidents highlight the immediate enforcement of the BNS, which replaces corresponding sections of the
Indian Penal Code, ushering in new crimes, stricter penalties, and community service provisions
