Hyderabad: Telangana DGP Urges Police to Improve Investigations, Gain Public Trust

Hyderabad: Telangana State Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. Jitender emphasized the need for high-quality investigations to improve conviction rates and ensure justice. Speaking at the half-yearly crime review meeting held on Monday at the DGP Office, he advised officers to make effective use of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) during investigations.

Dr. Jitender urged police personnel to be sensitive to victims’ situations and ensure justice is delivered in a fair and timely manner. He also highlighted the importance of visible policing to enhance public safety and trust. The DGP encouraged officers to interact regularly with citizens and directed women officers to raise awareness about women’s empowerment and self-development.

The meeting was attended by senior police officials including DG Intelligence B Shivadhar Reddy, DG CID Shikha Goel, ADGs, IGs, Commissioners of Police, Superintendents of Police, and several IPS officers.

Key Points from the Review:

  • Shikha Goel noted a 4.9% drop in crime in the second half of 2024 compared to the first half.

  • Major crimes, except burglaries, have declined.

  • The crime detection rate improved from 57% in 2023 to 76% in 2024.

  • Disposal of Unidentified (UI) cases increased by 20.49%.

Senior officials present included ADGP (Law and Order) Mahesh M Bhagwat, ADGP (Technical Services) VV Srinivasa Rao, ADGP (Personnel) Anil Kumar, ADGP (TGSP) Sanjay Kumar Jain, ADGP (Organization) Swati Lakra, CPs Sudheer Babu (Rachakonda) and Avinash Mohanty (Cyberabad), along with IGs S Chandrashekhar Reddy, VV Satyanarayana, TSNAB Director Sandeep Shandilya, and others.

The meeting reinforced the department’s commitment to strengthening law enforcement and serving the public effectively across Telangana.
