Imphal, April 4, 2025 — In a swift and coordinated operation, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Manipur Police, successfully rescued a kidnapped individual from Tollen Village, located in the Tamenlong district of Manipur.
The victim, identified as Sunil Kumar, an employee of Ganpati Company working under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), was abducted on April 3, 2025. According to official sources, he was taken by unidentified miscreants from a stone quarry near the Barak River bed, close to Maokot village.
Upon receiving the report, Assam Rifles immediately launched a coordinated investigation with the Manipur Police. The forces actively engaged with Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in the region to gather real-time intelligence and ensure community support in the rescue effort.
Working through the night, Assam Rifles carried out multiple search operations in the dense jungles surrounding the area. With continuous pressure and support from local CSOs, the kidnappers were forced to release the victim unharmed within 24 hours of his abduction.
In a statement, Assam Rifles emphasized that the operation reflects the force’s unwavering commitment to public safety and its zero-tolerance policy toward criminal activity. The successful rescue not only ensured the safe return of the abducted individual but also reinforced the trust and cooperation between security forces and local communities.
Authorities have confirmed that further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits involved in the kidnapping.
