The Cyberabad police arrested two former students of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) on Monday for allegedly inciting violence during a protest against development works at Kancha Gachibowli. The arrested individuals, identified as B Rohit Kumar and Erram Naveen Kumar, were taken into judicial remand.
According to the police, a group of people, including UoH students, gathered at the construction site and attempted to disrupt the ongoing work by force. They reportedly attacked officials and workers with sticks and stones. During the assault, the assistant commissioner of police (Madhapur Division) sustained severe injuries to his right knee and ankle.
A case was filed following a complaint by TG Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC). On Sunday, the police had detained 53 students in connection with the incident, though they were later released.
The police have stated that they are continuing to investigate the matter further.
