Hyderabad, March 17, 2025 – Tension prevailed at the Telangana Legislative Assembly on Monday as police arrested several activists of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) who attempted to storm the premises in protest against the recent ban on demonstrations at Osmania University.

The protesters, primarily students and youth leaders affiliated with BRS, gathered outside the Assembly, raising slogans against the state government’s decision to prohibit sit-ins and agitations within the university campus. As the crowd swelled, the demonstrators attempted to breach the security barricades set up by the police.

Law enforcement officials swiftly intervened, detaining multiple activists to prevent further escalation. The police cited the prohibitory orders in place around the Assembly and urged the protesters to disperse peacefully. However, the situation grew tense as some activists resisted arrest, leading to minor scuffles.

BRS leaders condemned the police action, accusing the ruling government of suppressing dissent and curbing students’ democratic rights. Senior party members demanded the immediate revocation of the ban and urged authorities to engage in dialogue rather than resorting to forceful measures.
