An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) in Bihar’s Munger district succumbed to injuries after being assaulted by a group of villagers, leading to the arrest of six individuals in connection with the attack.
The deceased officer, identified as ASI Santosh Kumar Singh, was posted at Mufassil police station and was also attached to the emergency response service ‘Dial 112.’ This incident follows a similar case in Araria district, where another ASI lost his life during a scuffle between police personnel and locals.
The fatal attack occurred on Friday evening in Nandlalpur village, under the jurisdiction of Mufassil police station. ASI Singh and other officers had gone to the village around 8:30 pm to investigate a reported scuffle. During the inquiry, a group of intoxicated individuals involved in the altercation attacked him, striking his head with a sharp weapon.
The injured officer was rushed to a nearby government hospital and later transferred to Patna for advanced medical care. However, he succumbed to his injuries early on Saturday.
