Hyderabad witnessed a shocking crime as an 86-year-old industrialist, V C Janardhan Rao, chairman and managing director of the Veljan Group, was brutally murdered by his grandson over a property dispute, police reported on Sunday.

The tragic incident took place on the night of February 6 at Rao’s residence in Somajiguda, where his 28-year-old grandson, K Kirti Teja, allegedly attacked him with a knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds that led to his immediate death.

During the altercation, Teja’s mother attempted to intervene but was also stabbed in the process. She sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment, according to Panjagutta police.

Investigations revealed that Teja and his mother, who reside in another part of the city, had visited Rao’s home on Thursday. While she stepped away to prepare coffee, a heated argument erupted between Teja and his grandfather regarding the division of property. The situation quickly escalated, leading to the fatal attack.

Police arrested Teja on Saturday, and further investigations into the case are ongoing.
