The Amritsar Rural police recently recovered a consignment of 23 kg of heroin from the village of Devi Daspura in Jandiala as part of the ongoing drive against drug smuggling in Punjab. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav provided details Wednesday, stating that preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment was linked to a smuggling network operated by a United States-based smuggler named Jasmit Singh, also known as Lucky.
Sahilpreet Singh alias Karan of the Devi Daspura village, who allegedly retrieved the consignment, was named an accused in the case filed Tuesday under section 21C (contravention in relation to manufactured drugs and preparations) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Jandiala police station. Multiple police teams are actively working to arrest him, the DGP said.
