However, a significant operation took place on March 3, 2025, when a joint team of the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh Police launched a coordinated counter-insurgency operation in the Manabhum Reserve Forest, spanning the Namsai and Changlang districts.
The Operation:
This operation was a pre-planned effort aimed at flushing out suspected militants belonging to the United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I). Intelligence reports suggested that insurgents had established temporary camps in the dense forest, using it as a strategic hideout to evade security forces. Given the difficult terrain and history of insurgent activities in the region, security forces exercised extreme caution while advancing into the forested areas.
