On February 27, 2025, the Cybercrime Cell of Goa Police launched an extensive cyber awareness campaign aimed at enhancing digital literacy and cybersecurity practices among religious leaders. As part of this initiative, a specialized training program was conducted for 176 parish priests across the state.

The primary objective of this campaign was to equip clergy members with essential knowledge about various cyber threats, including phishing attacks, identity theft, online scams, financial frauds, and social engineering tactics commonly used by cybercriminals. Given the increasing reliance on digital platforms for communication, financial transactions, and social outreach, it has become crucial for religious institutions to be well-versed in online safety measures.

During the training sessions, experts from the Cybercrime Cell provided detailed insights into the latest cybercrime trends, demonstrating how hackers exploit vulnerabilities to gain unauthorized access to sensitive information. The sessions also included practical guidance on identifying suspicious online activities, securing personal and institutional data, and using strong authentication methods to prevent unauthorized access.
