In a major crackdown on illegal cricket betting, Goa Police have busted a betting syndicate operating from Pilerne, Porvorim, and arrested three individuals from Gujarat. The racket was allegedly placing bets on the Champions Trophy match between India and Bangladesh, officials confirmed.
According to Police Inspector Rahul Parab, the police received credible intelligence on the night of February 20 about an illegal betting operation being conducted from a rented bungalow. Acting swiftly, a special police team raided the premises and apprehended the accused.
