Meghalaya’s Road Safety Week Empowers Citizens

Starting January 17, 2025, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Shillong, in collaboration with the Traffic Police Department of East Khasi Hills District, launched an impactful Road Safety Awareness Campaign. This initiative, spearheaded by Shri K. Prasad, MPS, Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Shillong, aims to address the critical issue of road safety in Meghalaya. The campaign emphasized the importance of adhering to traffic regulations, wearing helmets, and using seat belts, particularly targeting young drivers and pedestrians. It featured engaging workshops, street plays, and interactive sessions to make road safety education more relatable and effective for the public.

Running until January 23, 2025, the campaign also included community engagement programs to foster greater awareness about safe road practices. Local organizations and schools participated enthusiastically, amplifying the campaign’s reach. This initiative reflects Meghalaya’s commitment to reducing road accidents and ensuring safer roads for all citizens.
