Human trafficking has been a major concern for law enforcement in Tamil Nadu, particularly in the state’s coastal areas, where victims are often trafficked for forced labor or sexual exploitation. To tackle this, the Tamil Nadu Police have significantly enhanced surveillance along its coastal regions. Using advanced technology, including drones and night-vision cameras, the police aim to track suspicious activities and stop trafficking rings operating in the region.

The police have also increased cooperation with maritime agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and international bodies to help identify and rescue victims. Anti-human trafficking units have been deployed in areas with high vulnerability, and routine checks are being carried out on fishing boats and ships. Public awareness programs are also part of the effort to prevent trafficking, focusing on educating vulnerable communities.
