Chhattisgarh police, working alongside Odisha’s Special Operation Group (SOG), have successfully eliminated 14 Maoists in a well-coordinated operation in the forests of Gariaband district, located near the Odisha border. Among the deceased was Chalpathi, a high-ranking Maoist leader who had a bounty of ₹1 crore on his head. This encounter is part of the state’s broader efforts to dismantle Maoist insurgency activities in the region, which have been a persistent challenge for law enforcement and security forces.

The operation underscores the significant collaboration between different security agencies to combat extremism. The Chhattisgarh police, alongside their Odisha counterparts, continue to enhance intelligence sharing, conduct specialized training, and improve operational tactics to deal with Maoist threats. This encounter is considered a major blow to Maoist activities in the region, as Chalpathi had been a key figure in orchestrating numerous attacks on security forces.
