Sambhal Violence Probe Begins

A three-member judicial panel, appointed to investigate the violent clashes that erupted in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, in November 2024, has commenced its inquiry. The panel, headed by a retired High Court judge, visited the site of the violence and interacted with local residents, police officials, and other relevant stakeholders.  

The clashes, which occurred during a court-ordered survey of a religious site, resulted in the loss of several lives and injuries to many. The panel has been tasked with investigating the circumstances that led to the violence, determining the extent of police preparedness, and identifying any lapses in law and order maintenance.  
The panel is expected to submit its report within a stipulated timeframe, outlining its findings and recommendations to prevent similar incidents in the future. The investigation is crucial to understanding the root causes of the violence and ensuring accountability for any wrongdoing.
