Arunachal Police Seize Rs 42 Lakh Worth Heroin, Arrest 2 Peddlers

On January 18, 2025, the Arunachal Pradesh Police achieved a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking by arresting two inter-state drug peddlers in Itanagar. The suspects, identified as Urgen Dorjee and Tithai Pou Golmei, were apprehended in possession of 348.58 grams of heroin, with an estimated market value of Rs 42 lakh. The operation, led by Capital Region Superintendent of Police Rohit Rajbir Singh, marked a notable success in curbing the narcotics trade in the region.

The police first apprehended Dorjee, who was found carrying 65 grams of heroin. Upon interrogation, he disclosed the identity of his supplier, Golmei, based in Imphal. Acting swiftly, the authorities set a trap, leading to Golmei’s arrest along with 283.58 grams of heroin. Both individuals have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police are now focusing on dismantling the broader network connected to these peddlers, aiming to strike a significant blow against the drug trade.
