On January 17, 2025, families of police constables in Telangana gathered near the Secretariat to demand the implementation of the “One Police, One State” policy. The demonstration focused on advocating for uniform working conditions across the state’s police force, emphasizing the negative impact of frequent transfers on family life. Many constables are relocated multiple times throughout their careers, causing instability in terms of family housing, children’s education, and long-term planning.

The protesters, including wives and children of constables, argued that such transfers create undue stress and strain on families, and they called for more stable assignments. During the rally, numerous participants were detained by the police. While the demonstration was peaceful, the protest drew attention to the long-standing issue of unbalanced working conditions within the police force and garnered widespread media coverage.
