In November 2024, a gruesome crime shocked the Khunti district of Jharkhand. A 25-year-old man, Naresh Bhengra, was arrested for raping and murdering his live-in partner. Bhengra, who previously worked as a butcher in Tamil Nadu, confessed to strangling the 24-year-old woman and dismembering her body into approximately 40 pieces. The crime was discovered when a stray dog was seen carrying human body parts in Jordag village, prompting a police investigation.
Further inquiries revealed Bhengra had recently married another woman. His actions have left the local community in shock, highlighting the urgent need for stronger mechanisms to address crimes against women and improve community policing.
