The Uttar Pradesh Police have ramped up security for the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, which began on January 13, 2025. As millions of devotees from across India and the world converge for the festival, the police have deployed approximately 40,000 officers to maintain law and order. In addition to the large police force, the authorities have integrated cutting-edge technology, including AI-powered surveillance systems, to monitor large crowds and detect potential threats in real-time.

The police have also set up a temporary city, complete with robust infrastructure, to accommodate the massive influx of visitors. This makeshift city includes facilities for devotees’ safety and convenience, ensuring that essential services are readily available. The security measures reflect the scale and significance of the event, where over 400 million people are expected to gather for ritual bathing and religious observances.
