The Director General of Police (DGP) of Meghalaya, in a recent announcement, confirmed that he will not be available for the Police Public Meetup scheduled for Thursday, January 2, 2025. This public meeting was intended as a platform for citizens to directly interact with law enforcement officials and discuss concerns regarding crime, safety, and general law and order in the state.

Although the DGP will be absent, the police department reassures the public that representatives from various branches of the Meghalaya Police will still be present to address grievances, answer questions, and provide assistance to citizens. The meeting was expected to focus on community policing initiatives, updates on ongoing investigations, and measures to improve public safety across the state.

The Police Public Meetup has always been an important event to foster positive relations between the police and the local communities, ensuring that law enforcement is responsive and accessible. Despite the absence of the DGP, the Meghalaya Police encourage the public to attend and engage with officers from various departments.

While this rescheduling may cause some inconvenience, the police department is committed to maintaining transparency and keeping the lines of communication open with the citizens of Meghalaya. Further announcements regarding the next Police Public Meetup are expected.
