On January 2, 2025, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand issued critical directives to senior police officials, including Inspectors General (IG), Deputy Inspectors General (DIG), and Superintendents of Police (SP). These directives are aimed at intensifying the state’s ongoing efforts to combat crime and extremism, particularly in rural and remote areas.

The DGP emphasized the importance of effective policing, intelligence gathering, and strategic deployment of forces to tackle both urban crime and insurgency-related activities in the state. Jharkhand has faced challenges related to Maoist insurgency and other forms of criminal activity, making the role of law enforcement even more critical in maintaining public order and safety.

As part of the directive, a series of measures have been introduced to enhance inter-agency collaboration, boost intelligence-sharing, and improve the capabilities of local police units. The DGP has also urged a stronger focus on community policing to build trust between law enforcement and citizens, especially in regions that have been most affected by extremism.

The initiatives aim to address key issues, including the rise in Naxalite activities, organized crime, and violent extremism. The state has seen several operations in recent months targeting Maoist groups, and the government is committed to ensuring that police forces remain equipped to handle evolving threats.

Authorities are also emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order during the ongoing festival season, with additional resources being deployed to prevent any disruptions. The directives are seen as a proactive step in enhancing the security infrastructure of the state, ensuring that law enforcement agencies can respond rapidly to any threats.
