During the recent Sunburn Music Festival in Goa, the Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) detained five individuals on suspicion of drug consumption. The detainees hailed from Texas (USA), Hyderabad, Chennai, Madhya Pradesh, and Cuncolim. Saliva tests confirmed the presence of banned substances: four tested positive for ganja, and one for cocaine.
Superintendent of Police (ANC) Tikam Singh Verma stated that approximately 45 attendees were randomly tested using saliva kits during the festival. The five individuals who tested positive were detained, and their blood and urine samples were collected for further analysis. No narcotics were found in their possession at the time of detention.
The ANC emphasized that the detained individuals had consumed the narcotics outside the festival venue before attending the event. SP Verma clarified, “All five individuals consumed narcotic substances outside the Sunburn venue and then came to Sunburn. We tested them
In light of these incidents, the ANC has intensified its surveillance and testing procedures at major events to deter drug consumption and ensure public safety. Festival-goers are advised to refrain from consuming illegal substances and to report any suspicious activities to authorities promptly.
