In preparation for the New Year’s festivities, the Goa Police have intensified their vigilance to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for both tourists and residents. A significant aspect of this initiative was a targeted operation in the Calangute area, a popular destination known for its vibrant beach scene and nightlife.

During this operation, law enforcement apprehended 25 individuals identified as touts and illegal agents. These individuals were reportedly engaging in unauthorized activities, including offering unlicensed services and promoting dubious venues, which could potentially jeopardize the safety and experience of visitors.

Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Akshat Kaushal emphasized the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order, stating, “We are committed to maintaining law and order, making Calangute a safe and enjoyable destination for the tourists visiting Goa.”

The crackdown on illegal touts is part of a broader strategy by the Goa Police to enhance security measures during peak tourist seasons. In addition to these arrests, the police have increased patrols, set up checkpoints, and are closely monitoring activities in other popular areas to deter any unlawful behavior.

Tourists are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The police have assured that such reports will be handled promptly to ensure the well-being of all visitors.

These proactive measures by the Goa Police aim to create a secure atmosphere, allowing tourists to enjoy the New Year’s celebrations without concerns over safety. The department’s efforts have been well-received by the public, with many appreciating the increased security presence during the holiday season.
