To ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors during New Year’s celebrations, the Chennai Police deployed a force of approximately 25,000 personnel across the city and its suburbs. This extensive operation aimed to maintain public order, prevent accidents, and ensure a safe environment for everyone welcoming the new year.

Key security measures included the use of drones and CCTV cameras to monitor crowded areas such as beaches, parks, and entertainment hubs. Special teams were assigned to manage traffic flow and prevent incidents of drunk driving. Police also patrolled residential areas and set up checkpoints to deter unauthorized gatherings and unlawful activities.

Beaches, a popular destination for New Year’s revelers, received extra attention. Police ensured crowd control and prohibited activities that could endanger public safety. Officers were stationed strategically across Marina Beach and other hotspots, ensuring smooth celebrations.
