Jharkhand Police made significant strides in combating organized crime and insurgency in 2024, arresting 244 Maoists and 154 gangsters in a series of operations across the state. These arrests mark a major milestone in the state’s efforts to curb extremism and criminal activities, showcasing a coordinated and tactical approach to law enforcement.

In a determined effort to dismantle the Maoist network, police forces conducted multiple search and combat operations in districts like Latehar, Palamu, and Khunti, known strongholds of insurgent activity. Intelligence inputs and collaboration with central forces played a crucial role in locating hideouts and seizing arms and ammunition.

Among the arrested Maoists were several senior leaders responsible for planning and executing attacks on security personnel and civilians. The operations also led to the surrender of a significant number of cadres, signaling a weakening hold of Maoists in the region.

In parallel, the police intensified their campaign against gangsters operating in urban and semi-urban areas of the state. Raids conducted in Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and Dhanbad resulted in the apprehension of notorious criminals involved in extortion, kidnappings, and smuggling. Sophisticated weapons, counterfeit currencies, and luxury vehicles were recovered during these raids.

The arrests have disrupted several crime syndicates and created a safer environment for citizens, according to senior police officials.

These achievements are attributed to the relentless efforts of the police and strong support from the state government. Jharkhand Chief Minister praised the police for their dedication and announced further initiatives to enhance security and development in Maoist-affected areas. Programs aimed at reintegration of surrendered Maoists into society are also underway, focusing on education, vocational training, and financial assistance.

Despite the progress, officials emphasize the need for sustained efforts to eradicate insurgency and organized crime completely. Strengthening intelligence networks, modernizing police infrastructure, and fostering community engagement remain top priorities for the coming year.
