In response to recent arrests of Bangladeshi infiltrators, the Kolkata Police has heightened security measures across the city. Kolkata Police Commissioner announced the increased vigilance to curb illegal immigration and ensure public safety.

The police have established additional checkpoints at key locations, including major entry points, railway stations, and bus terminals. Teams are monitoring densely populated areas, where infiltrators are believed to blend in with local residents. Surveillance is also being stepped up along the city’s outskirts to prevent unauthorized movements.

Acting on intelligence inputs, Kolkata Police apprehended multiple individuals who had entered India illegally from Bangladesh. Preliminary investigations revealed that these individuals had bypassed border security and were planning to settle or engage in illegal activities in the city.

Officials suspect the involvement of local agents who facilitated the infiltrators’ movements and provided them with shelter. The police are working with other agencies to identify and dismantle such networks operating within and around Kolkata.

Speaking on the arrests and subsequent security measures, the Kolkata Police Commissioner said, “Our focus is on safeguarding the city from any threats arising due to illegal infiltration. We urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their localities.”

To support the ongoing efforts, awareness drives are being launched to inform citizens about the risks associated with illegal immigration. Posters and announcements urge people not to harbor infiltrators and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

Kolkata Police is coordinating with the Border Security Force (BSF) and neighboring state authorities to strengthen border monitoring. Advanced surveillance technologies and integrated patrolling systems are also being planned to detect and prevent illegal crossings.

The arrests have served as a wake-up call for the city, underlining the importance of robust security systems to maintain law and order.
