Gurugram witnessed a shocking crime as the Gurugram police’s crime branch arrested four individuals in connection with the brutal murder of a 19-year-old youth, Ashish, over a mobile phone dispute. The victim, an autorickshaw driver from Bhangrola village, was found dead near the Dwarka Expressway.
The Incident
On December 22, police discovered Ashish’s body lying in a water-filled green belt near Harsaru village. The victim’s head had been brutally injured, and his neck slashed with a muffler. His father lodged a complaint, stating that his son had been attacked by unknown individuals who killed him and dumped his body.
The crime scene was meticulously examined by the police’s crime scene, forensic, and fingerprint teams, who worked tirelessly to identify the victim. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime) Varun Dahiya revealed that Ashish was identified after efforts to trace his background.
The Arrests and Investigation
During their investigation, a crime branch team led by Inspector Jagveer Singh tracked down four suspects—Brijesh alias Rinku and Umesh alias Nahne from Uttar Pradesh, and Arvinder Kumar and Siyasaran Sahu alias Sibbu from Madhya Pradesh. All were residents of Gurugram and had rented accommodations in the city.
Brijesh, who was acquainted with Ashish, confessed that the murder stemmed from a mobile phone dispute. The accused claimed Ashish had forcibly taken their mobile phone, leading to a heated argument. On the night of December 21-22, they confronted Ashish at his home in Bhangrola village, attacking him with bricks before strangling him with a muffler. They then dumped his body and fled the scene.
The incident has sparked outrage and heightened concerns about escalating violence over trivial issues like mobile phone disputes. Gurugram residents have urged the authorities to enhance security measures to prevent such incidents.
“The crime was heart-wrenching, and we are determined to ensure justice for Ashish,” ACP Dahiya assured, adding that further investigations are underway. The arrested individuals have been sent to police custody as the case continues.
