Lucknow, December 28, 2024: In a significant step toward modernizing its security measures, the Uttar Pradesh Police has announced the deployment of underwater drones to bolster safety and surveillance efforts across the state. This advanced technology will primarily be used to secure critical water bodies, including rivers, reservoirs, and dams, against potential threats.

The underwater drones will assist in monitoring submerged areas that are typically challenging to access using traditional methods. Equipped with high-resolution cameras and sensors, these drones can identify and track suspicious underwater activities, ensuring real-time data transmission to control rooms.

Key locations such as the Ganga River, Yamuna River, and major reservoirs like Rihand and Matatila have been prioritized for initial deployment. The drones will also play a vital role in disaster management, aiding in search-and-rescue operations during floods and other emergencies.

Uttar Pradesh Police’s decision to incorporate underwater drones reflects its commitment to enhancing public safety. The drones will strengthen counter-terrorism measures by providing an additional layer of security for key installations, including bridges and ports.

Officials noted that this technology would also help in preventing illegal activities such as smuggling and unauthorized sand mining, which often occur in and around water bodies.

This initiative marks a technological leap for the state’s law enforcement agencies. The underwater drones are part of a broader strategy to modernize policing through the adoption of drones, AI-driven surveillance systems, and advanced communication tools.

The Uttar Pradesh Police plans to gradually expand the use of underwater drones across the state after analyzing their effectiveness during the initial phase. Training programs have also been introduced to equip officers with the skills required to operate these drones efficiently.

With these advancements, Uttar Pradesh Police aims to set a benchmark for other states in adopting innovative security measures.
