In a novel initiative aimed at enhancing digital literacy and combating misinformation, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police has launched a recruitment drive for “Digital Warriors.” The program seeks to engage social media influencers, students, and tech-savvy individuals to strengthen public outreach and ensure a safer online environment.
The move comes as part of UP Police’s broader efforts to tackle cybercrime, curb misinformation, and promote awareness on digital platforms. Social media influencers, with their wide reach and ability to engage young audiences, have been roped in to spread awareness about cyber safety, crime prevention, and the importance of responsible online behavior.
“Digital Warriors” will be tasked with creating content, sharing crucial safety guidelines, and reporting any suspicious online activities. The initiative is aimed at empowering citizens, particularly youth, to play an active role in maintaining peace and safety in the digital space.
IG Prashant Kumar, Director-General of UP Police, stated, “The youth are key stakeholders in today’s digital landscape. By involving them, we aim to foster a culture of responsible digital citizenship and combat online threats more effectively.”
The recruitment drive targets social media influencers with a significant following, university students, and tech enthusiasts who can leverage their influence to raise awareness on issues like cyberbullying, online fraud, and fake news. These Digital Warriors will work in collaboration with the police to amplify their message and ensure that the younger generation remains vigilant against cybercrime.
Alongside these initiatives, UP Police is also encouraging students to participate in cybersecurity awareness campaigns and workshops. With growing internet penetration and increasing digital crimes, such measures are expected to enhance public engagement and strengthen community policing efforts.
This initiative aligns with UP Police’s ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between law enforcement and the younger generation, encouraging collaborative efforts to ensure a safer online environment.
