Hyderabad police have dismantled an interstate drug trafficking network originating from Odisha, seizing a significant quantity of narcotics and apprehending three individuals. The crackdown resulted in the confiscation of 7 kg of marijuana (ganja) valued at approximately ₹2.4 lakh.

Arrests and Seizure Details

The arrested individuals have been identified as B Takri, Ghouri Jhara, and Dhanarjaya Khila, all hailing from Malkangiri district in Odisha. Law enforcement officials revealed that the accused were involved in transporting marijuana from Odisha to Hyderabad for illegal distribution.

Operation and Modus Operandi

According to the police, the gang sourced high-quality marijuana from Malkangiri, a region notorious for illegal cannabis cultivation. The accused used various means to smuggle the contraband into Telangana, including concealing it in vehicles, luggage, and other disguised packaging to evade detection.

Upon receiving a tip-off, the Hyderabad police launched a targeted operation, tracking the movements of the suspects and intercepting them before they could distribute the narcotics. The 7 kg of marijuana seized during the raid was intended for sale in Hyderabad’s illicit drug market.

Police Action and Further Investigation

Authorities have intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking networks operating between states, with a special focus on suppliers from Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Investigators are now probing whether the arrested individuals were part of a larger syndicate and identifying their local contacts and buyers in Hyderabad.

The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug trafficking, emphasizing their commitment to keeping Hyderabad free from illegal narcotics. The arrested suspects will be booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further legal proceedings are underway.
