In a move to enhance road safety and enforce transportation regulations, the Goa Traffic Police have intensified their crackdown on violations related to rent-a-car and rent-a-bike services. This initiative aims to ensure that rental operators and tourists comply with legal requirements, thereby improving traffic discipline and reducing road mishaps.
With Goa being a popular tourist destination, rental vehicles play a significant role in local transportation. However, authorities have observed an increase in cases where rental services operate without proper permits, fail to maintain roadworthy vehicles, or allow tourists to ride without valid licenses. Such negligence not only leads to traffic congestion but also poses serious risks to public safety.
To address these issues, the police have stepped up inspections at key locations, verifying rental permits, insurance validity, and driver documentation. Officers are also keeping a close watch on reckless driving, helmet and seatbelt violations, and instances of underage or unlicensed individuals using rental vehicles.
