Traffic Advisory
The Ladakh Traffic Police issued a traffic update at 10:10 AM on March 13, 2025, advising commuters, drivers, and tourists to plan their journeys accordingly.
-
NH-44 (Jammu-Srinagar National Highway):
- Between 5:00 PM on March 12 and 5:00 PM on March 13, there was slow movement on NH-44 due to the breakdown of three Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs), single-lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, between Marog and Kishtwari Pather, and ongoing four-lane construction work.
- Passengers and Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) operators are advised to travel during daylight hours due to the risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
- Goods carriers transporting perishable items or livestock should adhere to loading advisories, considering single-lane traffic and poor road conditions at specific sections.
- HMW operators are urged to avoid overloading, ensure vehicle fitness, and carry sufficient fuel.
- Only HMVs with six and ten tires are permitted to use the Dhar road.
- Commuters should avoid unnecessary stops between Ramban and Banihal, especially near landslide or shooting stone areas
