In yet another act of violence linked to Maoist insurgency in Chhattisgarh, a 65-year-old man, Kalmu Hidma, was brutally killed by suspected Naxalites in Pentapad village, under Chintagufa police station limits in Sukma district, on March 3, 2025. The attack, which took place on Monday evening, has sent shockwaves across the Bastar region, marking the eighth such fatality in the area this year.

According to local reports and police officials, Hidma, who was related to former MLA Manish Kunjam, was targeted by armed Maoists, who allegedly accused him of being a police informer. While the exact motive behind the attack remains under investigation, authorities suspect that the rebels executed the killing as part of their ongoing intimidation tactics against locals who are believed to support security forces.
