On March 3, 2025, over 100 travelers became stranded at Changla Pass due to severe weather conditions, including heavy wind-driven snow. The Ladakh Police, in collaboration with the Union Territory Disaster Response Force (UTDRF), General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF), and the Indian Army, initiated an overnight rescue operation. Starting at approximately 8:30 PM, the teams worked tirelessly to clear the snow and ensure the safe passage of the trapped individuals. By early morning on March 4, the route was successfully reopened, and all stranded vehicles and passengers were safely evacuated without any reported injuries.
