In a decisive move, Punjab Police initiated a statewide anti-drug operation, conducting raids at 750 different locations after the first meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on the drug menace on Saturday, officials said. During the operations, around 12,000 police personnel were involved.
The development followed after Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann set a three-month deadline to eradicate drug abuse in the state. The direction has prompted intensified action against drug traffickers, including the demolition of properties linked to illegal activities.According to a report by news agency PTI, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora urged all political parties to set aside differences and support the government’s anti-drug campaign to safeguard Punjab’s future.
