Over the past month, close to 100 members of insurgent groups – most from Manipur’s Valley districts – have been arrested by the state police, primarily in connection with extortion activities.Since January 17, at least 99 members of various insurgent groups have been arrested from different parts of the state. Apart from cadres, police have also arrested three members of the Armed Valley-based group Arambai Tenggol earlier this month for being involved in collecting money from drivers of vehicles along the Imphal-Jiribam highway.
