Mysuru has recently been the epicenter of several significant protests, leading to clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement. the city witnessed a bandh called by Dalit and backward class organizations in response to remarks made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The protest disrupted city bus services and led to the closure of shops in the Central Business District. Demonstrators gathered at the suburban bus stand, blocking roads and halting KSRTC buses from operating outside the city. Congress leaders, including B.J. Vijaykumar, marched along D. Devaraj Urs Road, and activists burned an effigy of Amit Shah.
The bandh, which lasted from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., received strong support, with many businesses voluntarily closing in solidarity. Karnataka State Backward Classes’ Awareness Forum president Shivaram emphasized the necessity of the protest to safeguard the Constitution, despite the inconvenience caused.
