Himachal Pradesh has witnessed a significant surge in cybercrime incidents, with over 5,000 complaints registered in the first seven months. This alarming trend has resulted in financial losses exceeding ₹44 crore during this period. Notably, the number of daily complaints has escalated from an average of 11 in previous years to approximately 260, indicating a rapid increase in cyber fraud activities.

In response to this growing threat, the Himachal Pradesh Police have implemented several initiatives to combat cybercrime. A 24/7 cybercrime reporting hub, known as ‘CY-Station’, has been established in Shimla, enabling citizens to report online scams via the toll-free number 1930. Additionally, the police have launched awareness programs targeting schools, public places, and social media platforms to educate the public on cybercrime prevention. Efforts also include specialized training programs for officers to enhance their skills in handling cyber threats.
