In a move aimed at improving financial transparency, the Madhya Pradesh Police have announced a ban on cash transactions at police-operated petrol pumps and supermarkets effective. The decision comes after a significant rise in embezzlement complaints. The police believe this step will not only reduce financial discrepancies but also pave the way for greater accountability within their operations.

This initiative follows the success of a similar policy implemented by the Bhopal police unit in May 2024, which showed promising results. However, the Pachmarhi police petrol pump has been exempted from this rule due to limited mobile internet facilities in the area. While cash receipts will still be issued at this location, all payments made by the petrol pump to vendors or suppliers will be conducted digitally or through cheques. This move represents a broader shift toward digital governance within law enforcement systems.
