the Naharlagun Police intensified their fight against drug-related crimes under the campaign ‘Operation Dawn.’ The year-long effort resulted in the seizure of 588.42 grams of heroin, 7,042.5 grams of cannabis, and other illegal substances. These efforts culminated in 41 registered NDPS cases and the arrest of 91 individuals involved in drug peddling.
The success of ‘Operation Dawn’ extended beyond law enforcement, contributing to a marked decline in crimes such as thefts and burglaries, often linked to drug addiction. The police conducted awareness campaigns across schools and colleges, educating youth about the dangers of drug abuse. Plans for ‘Operation Dawn 2.0’ in 2025 aim to build on these achievements and further tighten the noose around drug traffickers.
