Uttarakhand Police have carried out an important operation in Dehradun, destroying 150 boxes of Chinese ‘manjha’ (kite string) which had been illegally sold in the market. The decision to take action came after several incidents where the dangerous string caused serious injuries and even fatalities. Chinese ‘manjha’ is notorious for its sharpness and potential to cut through skin, which has resulted in multiple accidents, particularly during kite flying festivals.
The police action was not just about the destruction of these hazardous items but also a commitment to public safety. Along with destroying the dangerous material, authorities have filed 11 FIRs against individuals involved in the illegal trade and distribution of the string. The police have urged the public to refrain from using or selling this harmful material, emphasizing its role in public harm during celebrations and outdoor activities.
