In a significant operation on January 12, 2025, the Tripura Police confiscated 1.24 lakh methamphetamine tablets, commonly known as Yaba tablets, from a cement-laden truck in Agartala. Valued at around ₹1 crore, the contraband was suspected to have been smuggled from Myanmar with its final destination being Bangladesh. The swift action led to the arrest of the truck driver and his assistant, disrupting a key node in the regional drug trafficking network.

This operation reflects the Tripura Police’s proactive stance in tackling the menace of narcotics. By intercepting such large consignments, the state is effectively curbing the spread of drug abuse and its associated social issues.
